Abstract (EN)
Karacahisar Castle, whose construction date is not known, is located 7 km away from Eskişehir, southwest of Karacaşehir village, at an altitude of 1010 m. The castle was important for both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empire periods, which was then called Beylik. After the Byzantine fortress was captured by the Ottomans, sermons were taught there in the name of Osman Bey. This was interpreted as the declaration of the independence of the Ottoman Principality. As of 1999, researches and excavations started in Karacahisar Castle; and is still in progress. In this study, conservation and exhibition suggestions were developed for Karacahisar Castle. First of all, the regulations and guidelines established for protection in archaeological sites were examined, then the problems and methods of conservation in archaeological sites were explained. Secondly, various conservation and exhibition applications were selected and classified according to their characteristics and the resources were developed to advance Karacahisar Castle proposals. Finally, in the light of the selected examples, the situation of the Karacahisar Castle has been evaluated and suggestions have been made to protect, exhibit and promote the castle.
