Flora of the Atila (Hatilla) Valley in Artvin

Flora of Artvin - Atfla (Hatılla) Valley The area under review is taken place in the Colchis province of Euro-Siberian floristic area of the Holarctic region. This study has been done to be determined the flora of Artvin- Aula Valley which has quite a rich floristic composition, including some endemic and relict taxa, as well. 490 plant taxa have been determined in this study area, 14 of these which are Ferns and 10 of these taxa which are Gymnosperms, both have been listed systematically according to Engler and Davis's methods, other 466 taxa which are Angiosperm taxa were listed according to Cronquist's method. In the stands of Pinus pinea L. which is taken place in Fıstıklı Village, a lot of taxa, both herbaceous and woody plants are from Mediterranean region. Some relict species such as Epigaea gauliherioides (Boiss.& Ball.) Takht. and Osmanthus decorus (Boiss & Bal.) Kasaphgil are found in the study area. The former has very limited distribution, on the contrary, the latter has wide spreading in the study area. Some taxa known their plant geography region could be ordered as fallow: Flora region Percentage Euro-Siberian % 72 Irano-turanian % 10 Mediterranean % 9 Hyrcano-Euxine % 9 32 plant taxa are endemic and their percentage is about 7 %. 37 new record were determined for A-8 Artvin square included in the study area.Key Words : Flora, Euro-Siberian, Euxine, Colchis and Artvin.
