Özet (EN)
This thesis presents a comprehensive analysis of the municipal solid waste and animal waste generated in the province of Artvin, aiming to reveal their potential for biogas production. The primary objective of the study is to determine the biogas potential of household and animal waste in Artvin. In this context, population projections for the province were calculated, daily per capita waste generation rates were identified, and the estimated future waste quantities were forecasted. The biogas potential of municipal solid waste destined for the sanitary landfill site was calculated using the LandGEM (Landfill Gas Emissions Model), developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The data obtained from the model regarding landfill gas production were analyzed to estimate the biogas potential. For animal waste, data from the Biomass Energy Potential Atlas prepared by the General Directorate of Energy Affairs under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources were used. Based on these data, along with livestock numbers and technical coefficients available in the literature, the potential biogas production from animal waste was calculated. The findings of the study offer significant contributions to the development of waste management policies and the promotion of renewable energy use in Artvin.
