Investigation of morphology, biology, damage and struggling opportunities of Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) (boxwood butterfly) which damaged in the boxwood fields in artvin province

This study was carried out between 2018 and 2020 to investigate the morphology, biology, damage and control methods of Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) , which damaged the boxwood area in Artvin province. Hatila Valley National Park, where the boxwood plant shows natural distribution, and Artvin Coruh University Campus, where it is used as an ornamental boxwood, were chosen as the study area. In the study, it was found that the pest has 4 biological stage, lays its eggs on the underside of the leaf in groups of 10-20, the larvae have 5 larval periods, and the adults have 2 forms, white and brown. It is observed that the pest, which gives 2 generations in the province of Artvin, completed the 1st generation in the middle of June and completed the 2nd generation at the end of August. It was observed that Cydalima perspectalis damage to the leaves of the boxwood plant in the form of a caterpillar. It has been observed that the damage caused by the pest to the boxwood area is quite serious and dry the boxwoods. A total of 2144 adults were caught from pheromones. Success rate ranging from 60% to 90% has been determined in entomopathogenic applications. An average of 77.5% for Bentar®; 72.5% on average for FD-63; an average of 82.5 for FD-70; average 65% for FDP-8; 72.5% on average for FD-1; It has been found to be an average of 87.5% effective for Neemazal®.
