Silvicultural assesments of spatial pattern of trees in Artvin region mixed stands

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine spatial pattern of scots pine, oriental spruce and fir trees according to species, stand stratums and development stages in mixed stands of Artvin region. It was also aimed to determine the development interactions of all sort of trees which distribute together. In this purpose, totally 21 plots were sampled where spruce or scots pine is dominant. Plots were taken from different development stages and slopes. Spatial distribution maps of plots were prepared using ArcGIS software and spatial patterns of trees were analyzed using Ripley?s K function. A total of 189 trees were cut down from 63 point of the plots by taken spatial association to consideration. It was determined that scots pine, oriental spruce and fir trees exhibit aggregation and random spatial distributions. There were no regular distributions in the plots. The number of scots pine individuals is nearly absent in density and pole developments stages and scots pines are presented in general upper stratum of the stands. Spruce and fir exist in nearly all development stages and stand stratums. Trees show tendency to aggregation to random distributions from the development stages of density to medium tree and from the lower stratum to upper stratum. And also, regular distributions are determined in development of medium tree stages.
