Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the effects of cold patch additives on the performance of bitumen mixtures were investigated. The aim of the study was to examine the indirect tensile strengths of bitumen mixtures prepared with different additive ratios and bitumen amounts and to determine the effects of the additive on the bitumen mixture. Within the scope of the research, six different bitumen mixtures were prepared and bitumen and aggregate temperatures, bitumen amount and additive ratios were changed in each mixture. As a result, it was emphasized that in addition to the additive ratio and bitumen amount, appropriate processing conditions of the additives are critical for improving the performance of bitumen mixtures. Despite the application of a very high water damage level, it is interpreted that proportional ICM values can meet the acceptance criteria with the reduction of bitumen presence. However, the most important issue that should not be forgotten is that the additive to be used is strictly dependent on the aggregate, bitumen, design conditions and mixture granulometry to be used in the field condition. It is not correct to use the effectiveness and performance level of the additives on a project basis without evaluating the material. Under these conditions, it is seen that successful results can be obtained when the selected damage conditioning is considered as patch material.
