Abstract (EN)
Primary goal of this study is to examine the impact of games developed with QR codes within the scope of the 7th Grade Solar System and Beyond: Space Puzzle Unit on the attitudes of students toward technology and science. Using a single group pretest-posttest experimental design model; the study was carried out with 23 students (14 male, 9 female) from 7th grades receiving education in a public school where students with lower socio-economic levels go during the school year of 2015-2016. Within the scope of the study, the games developed with QR codes according to the acquisitions of the Solar System and Beyond: Space Puzzle Unit had been implemented for four weeks. Study data were collected with; Attitude toward Technology Scale (Yurdugul and Askar, 2008), Attitude toward Science Scale (Nuhoglu, 2008) and student diaries. The data acquired from the Attitude toward Technology and Science scales were analyzed using parametric and non-parametric tests. On the other hand, the qualitative data acquired from student diaries were analyzed using content analysis method. As a result of the study, it was determined that there was no significant increase in attitude scores of the students toward technology and science. On the other hand, a significant difference was found in their attitude scores toward games enriched with QR codes. The students who participated in the study stated in their diaries that the games developed with QR codes were instructive, amusing and exciting. They also stressed that the games encouraged them to participate in the course actively and made their knowledge long-lasting.
