An analysis of social science subjects in Atatürk Era education periodicals printed (1923-1938)

An analysis of Social Science Subjects in Atatürk Era Education Periodicals Printed (1923-1938) This study aims to investigate Social Sciences subjects in the Education Periodicals Printed in Ataturk Era that fundamental changes and reforms in the area of education and culture have been done in the history of the republic. The articles about Social Sciences in Ataturk Era Education Periodicals Printed are examined with survey method and the data obtained by document analysis method. The data gathered from 18 Education Periodicals Printed that investigated in the study is categorised up to topics by using qualitative data analysis programs. The articles about the components of Social Sciences that History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Economy, Political Science, Law, Education, History of Art and Art Education are subtitled within their own contexts. In the findings part, distribution of articles about Social Sciences in investigated Periodicals Printed is given. Then, the articles from each discipline are demonstrated on the charts and the information regarding to the name, publish pleace, publish year and the content of the articles is given. In the conclusion part, the findings are evaluated in accodance with sub problems of the study and the inferences for each discipline are placed. Results of the review of 773 articles from 4223 located in 18 educational magazines were found to be related to Social Sciences. The remarkable point in this article is the importance given to education of Social Science subjects. In discussion part, consequences are interpreted and some comparisons are addressed. As a final, suggestions to who are interested in the history of Turkish Education are offered.
