Teacher education and qualifications of teachers in Atatürk Period

The issue of teacher training in the Turkish national education system has been a topic of discussion in every period, with programs that are implemented without establishing independent infrastructure and often subject to frequent changes in line with political and social developments. As a result, some deficiencies and shortcomings have emerged in practice. Regardless of any changes in education and teaching, it has always been understood that the position of a qualified and effective teacher cannot be replaced by anything. Therefore, various practices of different countries regarding teacher education have been taken into account, and necessary reforms have been attempted by considering the recommendations of Turkish educators at times. In this study, the changes and arrangements made in teacher training in Turkey starting from 1923, especially the official publications published on the subject, especially official publications, copyrighted works, articles, periodicals were used, the information was brought together as a whole and especially the teacher training and the qualifications of teachers during the period of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk were emphasised. The studies carried out within the boundaries of our thesis subject have been investigated by examining the causes and consequences, and the results have been tried to be revealed in detail.
