Abstract (EN)
Approximately 3 billion tires are processed commercially in a year and an equivalent amount of tires completes their useful life. Within the scope of end-of-life tires management, recovery of tires considering circular economy approach is becoming increasingly important. The aim of the thesis study is to determine the adsorption behavior of methylene blue (MB) and Rhodamine B (RB) dyes by using carbon-based material (KBM), a novel low-cost adsorbent produced from waste tire. The CBM was characterized by using FT-IR and SEM analysis for structural and morphological properties. The effects of adsorbent dose, pH, initial dye concentration, agitation speed, temperature and contact time were investigated. It showed that the pseudo-second-order (R2MB=0.9813, R2RB=0.9975) and Freundlich isotherm (R2MB =0.9971, R2RB =0.9970) model for adsorption of both RB and MB on CBM is most fitted with the significantly higher coefficient of correlation. The maximum adsorption capacity of MB and RB on CBM is 681.14 and 85.26 mg / g, respectively. In addition, the adsorption experiments of the process effluent wastewater of a real textile industry using reactive dye with KBM were carried out and the removal of dye in the real process wastewater of KBM was demonstrated. This study reduces environmental pollution by converting the end-of-life tires into carbon-based material for water/wastewater treatment provides a "win-win" approach to improve waste management.
