The assesment of the result of ankle joint arthrodesis with intrameduller nail

We reviewed 20 patient in Adnan Menderes University Medicine faculty hospital Ortopedics Clinic between 2011-2015 These patient have been opereted with the diagnosis of ankle joint arhtrosis Unfortunately three of these patients disqualified because of in adequately post operaif data. 11 (%64.7) of patient of patient was male and 6(%35.3) was female. İn the study avarage age was 57.4 (31-72). 9 of patient operated on right side ankle. 8 of patient was opereted from left side ankle. The patient followed avarage 20 months(6-48). In the patient we eveluated the ethyolojical diagnosis; 9 of the patient post traumatic arthrosis,2 of them was Charhcot arthropathies 2 of them was sequel of pes ecinovarus,1 of them was arthrosis of poliomyelitis ,3 of them was talus avasculer necrosis . The clinical data evelueted according to AOFAS VAS scores. In all operation we only used the anguleted Retrograd Intrameduller Nail and ankle lateral approach. We achieved solid fusion in tibiotalar joint avarage 14.1 weeks(10-20). We evaluated AOFAS scor pre-op control and postoperatively last control. In pre-op control it was 14.6 and post –op 81.5. 14 (82.35%) patients good, 3 (17.65%) patients had moderate results. Pre-op VAS score was 9.5 after operation in last control it was 2. We achieved averege 4.88 (2-10) degrees of valgus at ankle joint. We observed complications in 5 of patient. 2 of them was superficial wound necrosis 1 of them wound enfection;1 of them was tibial stres fracture and 1 of them was deep wound enfection. As a result we observed in ankle joint arthrosisi using ankle joint arthrodesis with retrograd imn is supplying more less pain and satisfactory clinical correction and meanwhile this technique is succesful correcting the deformity.
