The impact of father on the behaviour problems and well-being of children

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between 8 to 10 year old children and their fathers. Factors as the participation of the fathers in the education of the children and the well-being situation were considered in this study.The research was carried out with 274 children their mothers and fathers who live in nine different areas İstanbul. The data of the fathers personal and family traits were collected by the "Fathers Demographic İnformation Form", the data of the participation involvement by the fathers were collected by the "Father İnvolvement Scale", the data of the childrens behaviour problems were collected by the " Conners' Parent Rating Scale" and the date of the childrens well- being situation were collected by "Child well-being survey", which was prepared by the analyst. One Way Anova Analysis and Pearson Product Moments Correlation coefficient were used for statistical analyses. According to study, fathers participate more of their daughters. The more participation children get from their fathers the higher is the rate of their well-being situation. Furthermore, the father's participation has also an influence on the behaviour problems of the children. İt was found, that there is relation between fathers and mothers judge according their children's behaviour problems. Last but not least, the children's well-being and the means to measure this observation are in relation to each other.
