Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of 8-week plyometric training on vertical jump, flexibility, hand grip strength, push-ups, sit-ups and 20 m sprint performance in badminton. A total of 24 athletes between the ages of 12-14 who were active sportsmen in Elazığ province participated in the study voluntarily. In addition to badminton training, plyometric training program was applied to the experimental group (EG) athletes 3 days a week for 8 weeks. The control group (CG) continued badminton training only. SPSS 25 package program was used to analyze the data. In the data obtained, a statistically significant difference was found in the EG pre-test post-test values of 20 m sprint, vertical jump, 30 s push-up, 30 s sit-up, paw strength right, paw strength left parameters (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found in the EG pre-test post-test values of vertical jump, 30 s push-up, 30 s sit-up, right hand grip strength, left hand grip strength parameters (p<0.05). In addition, no statistically significant difference was found in the pre-test post-test 20m sprint and flexibility parameters in the CG (p>0.05). A statistically significant difference was found in the vertical jump parameter in the posttest values of the participants between the groups (p<0.05). However, no statistically significant difference was found in 20 m sprint, vertical jump, 30 s push-up, 30 s sit-up, right hand grip strength, left hand grip strength, flexibility parameters (p>0.05). In conclusion, 8-week plyometric training program contributes to the development of basic motoric characteristics. Keywords: Plyometric Training, Badminton, Motoric Characteristics
