Evaluation of façade rehabilitation on 9064th street in Edincikneighborhood, Bandirma, Balikesir in the context ofconservation

This thesis evaluates façade rehabilitation practices on 9064th Street in Edincik Neighborhood (Bandırma, Balıkesir) within a holistic conservation framework. It aims to analyze street-scale rehabilitation data to identify key parameters for new building design in historic environments and to develop an applicable design methodology. National and international conservation approaches, relevant legislation, and official documents were reviewed, and the role of contemporary interventions in historic contexts was discussed. The study employed photogrammetry, 3D modeling, measured drawings, typological analysis, and on-site observation to document and assess building and façade characteristics such as use, construction, massing, transparency–solid ratios, projections, and cladding materials. Building identity documents were prepared, and the findings were comparatively examined through an analysis matrix; a SWOT analysis was also conducted to determine strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The results indicate that new building design should be guided not only by physical compatibility but also by street texture, cultural values, and façade character. Accordingly, a phased methodology integrating rehabilitation data into the design process is proposed.
