Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is examining and assessing the hand-knitted bootie samples in Balıkesir city in terms of their characteristics and passing them down to future generations through documenting. The population of the research consists of hand-knitted bootie products made in Balıkesir city, and the sample consists of 45 knitted booties that can be reached from the relevant persons within the borders of Balıkesir Altıeylül Municipality Selimiye Quarter (Village).Descriptive research model was used in the research. In order to determine the characteristics of the products within the scope of the research, their photographs were taken, the patterns were drawn in the computer environment and information forms were created to assess each product in terms of tools, equipment, techniques, colors, motifs and composition features. The data obtained from the information forms are presented in the findings and comments section. Five knitting needles and crochet tools are mostly used in the making process of the products. The booties are generally knitted with the plain knitting technique, and the double crochet technique is applied to the edges. Mostly black color has been observed in the footbed of the hand-knitted booties while light yellow has been used as the pattern color, and black and light yellow color were seen in the edge cleaning. It was determined that the most herbal and geometric decorations were used in the patterns of the products. It has been determined that the motifs are mostly placed according to the horizontal composition style.
