Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine bark beetle species of Bartın and Karabük forests and some important species biology between 2008 and 2012.For this aim, 12 study areas were determined in different stands where can be seen density damage in Bartın and Karabük forests. And also surveying was continued in all around the region for determination of bark beetles and their predators. For this aim, trap trees were prepared. The logs were observed in forest depot and cutting area in surveyed areas of the region and pheromone traps were used to determine important bark beetles flying period and population density. As a result, 23 bark beetles species were determined. These are Hylurgus ligniperda (Fabricius, 1787), H. micklitzi Wachtl, 1881, Tomicus minor (Hartig, 1834), T. piniperda Linneaus, 1758, Hylastes attenuatus Erichson, 1836, Crypturgus numidicus Ferrari, 1867, Taphrorychus bicolor (Herbst, 1793), T. ramicola (Reitter, 1894), T. villifrons (Dufour, 1843), Pityokteines curvidens (Germar, 1824), P. spinidens (Reitter, 1894), P. vorontzovi(Jacobson, 1895), Orthotomicus erosus (Wollaston, 1857), O. longicollis (Gyllenhal, 1827), Ips acuminatus (Gyllenhal, 1827), I. sexdentatus (Boerner, 1776), Pityophthorus pityographus(Ratzeburg, 1837), Cryphalus piceae (Ratzeburg, 1837), Trypodendron lineatum (Olivier, 1795, Anisandrus dispar (Fabricius, 1792), Xyleborus eurygraphus (Ratzeburg, 1837), X. monographus (Fabricius, 1792) and Xyleborinus saxesenii (Ratzeburg, 1837). Among these species Hylurgus ligniperda (Fabricius, 1787), H. micklitzi Wachtl, 1881, Crypturgus numidicus Ferrari, 1867, Taphrorychus ramicola (Reitter, 1894), Hylastes attenuatus Erichson, 1836, Pityokteines spinidens (Reitter, 1894), Orthotomicus erosus (Wollaston, 1857) (For Bartın), Anisandrus dispar (Fabricius, 1792), (For Karabük), Xyleborus monographus (Fabricius, 1792), Xyleborinus saxesenii (Ratzeburg, 1837) (Ratzeburg) were recorded first time in Bartın and Karabük forest. As predator 40 species belonging to 17 family from 2 order, were determined. Gnathoncus buyssoni Auzat, 1917 and Plegaderus saucius Erichson, 1834 are new records for Turkey.Key Words: Bartın, Karabük, bark beetle, pheromone trap, trap tree, predator species.
