Investigation of molecular and crystal structures of some 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxy-6-methoxybenzaldehyde compounds

In this thesis, crystal and molecular structures of (E)-2-(((2-chlorophenyl)imino) methyl)-4,6-dichloro-3-methoxyphenol and (E)-2-(((2-bromophenyl)imino) methyl)-4,6-dichloro-3-methoxyphenol compounds, which are 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxy-6-methoxybenzaldehyde derivative Schiff bases, have been determined by the experimental and theoretical methods. Crystal structures of these compounds have been revealed by examining the molecular geometries and the crystal packing effects with the aid of X-ray diffraction method. Electronic properties of compounds were demonstrated with the help of computational methods by using the data preciously obtained from X-ray analysis. As a result, the possible biological, chemical and physical features, these compounds can show, were discussed.
