Abstract (EN)

In this study, the usability of the calcined dolomite obtained from Kümaş Manyezit A.Ş. for boron removal from industrial wastewater has been investigated. The calcination of dolomite ore has been carried out at 600-1200°C with 100°C intervals. X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and surface area measurement device (BET) were used for the characterization of dolomite ore and calcined samples. The activity of calcined dolomite was determined by using hydration and citric acid tests. As a result of these tests, it was decided to use dolomite calcined at 1000°C in adsorption experiments. The effect of the dolomite amount and mixing time on the adsorption process was determined and examined that the % removal value increased with the increasing adsorbent amount. An initial concentration of 2400 ppm was decreased to 1200 ppm in the presence of %0,5 calcined dolomite, whereas it was approximately 320 ppm rea in the presence of %1,25 calcined dolomite (reached to %85 treatment). It was found that the adsorption data were fitted to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the maximum adsorption capacity increased up to 234 mg/g.
