Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of some industrial waste mineral additives such as brick powder, marble powder, stone powder, and fly ash on the compressive strength, flexural strength, capillarity, and abrasion resistance of concrete was comparatively investigated. In the testing program, brick powder, marble powder, stone powder, and fly ash were replaced with cement by mass at ratios of 10%, 20%, and 30%, respectively. Mixtures without mineral additives were also prepared for making comparisons. Evaluation and comparisons were performed on the measurements obtained at the end of 7 and 28 days. Based on the measurements obtained, control mixtures have performed better than those produced using industrial waste mineral additives. The flexural strengths obtained from the mixtures of brick powder were higher than those produced with the rest of mineral additives. It was also monitored that mixtures of brick powder yielded almost similar capillary coefficients with those produced using marble powder. On the other hand, mixtures of 10% fly ash yielded almost equal compressive strength compared to those of control mixtures. It is been observed that mixtures of 10% stone powder and 10% marble powder were found to be effective regarding the early strength gain of concrete while mixtures of 10% brick powder and 10% fly ash were found to be more effective on later strength gain.
