Abstract (EN)

It is known that various engineering activities (e.g. Transportation Systems, Highways, Railways, Generation of Energy, Dams, Mining and Industrial Transformations etc.) substantially increase the need for raw material. The state-of-the-art technology needs inexpensive but high quality studies providing the most specific solutions while serving long-term interests during both the material supply and construction periods (or production it depends which one you refer to) In the period of development of highway networks in Turkey, bituminous hot-mix asphalt is the most commonly used product of all for the road constructions. Aggregates, which encompasses more than 90% of volume of bituminous hot-mix, are important in terms of both healthy production and serving long-term purposes. The aim of this study is testing the feasibility of using gabbro and basalts in bituminous hot-mix and optimizing the data obtained. Therefore, representative rock samples of different kind were taken features of the region and they were tested in lab setups. In the light of the information obtained in the cities of Samsun, Ordu and Giresun by selecting the ones carrying characteristic possible problems that may occur during hot-mix production and solutions to them are evaluated and assessed.
