Investigation of the relationship between emotional intelligence levels of physical education teacher candidates and their teaching proficiency levels

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to examine the relationship between the emotional intelligence levels of physical education teacher candidates and their education efficacy levels. In this study, data were collected by using Emotional Intelligence Scale and Physical Education Teaching Efficacy Scale, as well as the questions describing teacher candidates. Scales were administered to 3rd and 4th grade students online and face to face. The data obtained as a result of the application were analyzed with the SPSS 26 package program. During the analysis process, Cronbach's Alpha, normality test, descriptive statistics, frequency distribution, correlation analysis, independent sample t-test and one-way anova were used. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that there was a positive and significant relationship between the emotional intelligence levels of the students and their teaching efficacy. In the study, it was determined that the emotional intelligence levels of the students differed according to gender, age, mother's education level and class level, while it did not differ according to the father's education level. In addition, it was determined that the physical education efficacy levels of the students differed according to gender and age, but did not differ according to the education level of the mother, education level of the father and class level.
