Examining the social appearance anxiety of candidate physical education teachers in terms of some variables

The main purpose of this research is to examine the levels of social appearance anxiety of the candidate physical education teachers. The research has been carried out by Survey model. In the academic year of 2011-2012, a total of 600 physical education teacher candidates studying in six different universities? physical education and sport teaching programs participated in this study. In this study, ?Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (Doğan, 2010)? was used as a tool of data collection. The SSPS 15.0 package program was used to analyze the data. For data analysis, descriptive statistical techniques including percentage, frequency, mean and standard deviation were used. In addition, t test and one-way analysis of variance (one way-ANOVA) were used to find the difference between the study variables. Also, Tukey test was performed for the source of the difference and the Pearson correlation coefficient technique was used to determine the relationship between the two factors. In the study it was seen that, physical education teacher candidates? social appearance anxiety levels were low according to the social appearance anxiety scale. In addition, no significant difference was found among the physical education teacher candidates? variables including gender, class level, family income, and which university he/she goes. However, physical education teacher candidates? sport branches and where they were born, grown and settled variables were compared and significant differences were found. Also, a significant relationship was found between the age variable and the social view anxiety levels of the physical education teacher candidates.
