Examination of the relationship between physical education teachers' cultural intelligence levels and their commitment to professional ethical principles: The example of İğdir province

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between physical education teachers' cultural intelligence levels and their commitment to professional ethical principles. In order to achieve this aim, the effects of some demographic characteristics on cultural intelligence levels and professional ethical principles were investigated. Relational survey model, which is one of the general survey models frequently used in quantitative research methods, was used in the research. 162 Physical Education teachers working in the province of Iğdır in the 2020-2021 academic year constitute the universe of this research. The entire universe has been reached. In the data collection, the personal information form created by the researcher and his advisor to determine the demographic variables (age, gender, marital status, professional year, education level, administrative position, place of duty and working in the province where he was born) of the physical education teachers participating in the research, Cultural Intelligence scale developed by Ang et al (2007) and physical education teachers professional ethical principles scale developed by Özbek (2013) were used. SPSS statistical package program was used in the analysis of the data. According to the arithmetic mean of the participants' Cultural Intelligence scale scores; It was determined that the cultural intelligence levels were in the range of 3.41-4.20 (x̄=3.64). Likewise, according to the arithmetic average of the scores of the Commitment to Professional Ethics Principles scale; It has been determined that the level of commitment to professional ethical principles is in the range of 4.21-5.00 (x̄=4.59). Correlation analysis was conducted to determine whether there is a relationship between the Cultural Intelligence levels of the physical education teachers participating in the research and the Levels of Commitment to Professional Ethical Principles. According to the correlation analysis; No correlation was found between the cultural intelligence levels of the physical education teachers participating in the research and their commitment to professional ethical principles. As a result of the research, the findings related to the relationship between the cultural intelligence levels of the teachers in the study group and their commitment to professional ethical principles were discussed with the support of the literature, and suggestions were presented as a result of the discussions.
