An examination of the relationship between Physical Education and Sports Teaching department students and other teaching branch students, according to some variables

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the critical thinking levels and academic self-efficacy of physical education and sports teaching department students and other teaching departments according to some variables. Relational survey model was used to determine the relationship between students' critical thinking levels and academic self-efficacy. The universe of the research consists of 1622 students in the teaching departments of Bartın University (Social studies teacher, Turkish teacher, Primary school mathematics teacher, Psychological counseling and Guidance teacher and Classroom teacher). The study group consists of 198 people in total, 97 from the Physical Education and Sports Teaching department and 101 from other teaching branches. It was collected with the "Critical Thinking Disposition (EDE) Scale" developed by Semerci (2016) and the "Academic Self-Efficacy Scale" created by Owen and Froman (1988) and adapted to Turkish by Ekici (2012). Students' critical thinking levels and academic self-efficacy were determined. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 26 program. In data analysis, t-Test was used to compare independent groups, One Way ANOVA test was used for comparisons of more than two clusters, and correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between critical thinking level and academic self-efficacy. At the end of the research, there was a between the gender, mother and father education status, regular reading, sports habits, family income, department and class variables, critical thinking and academic self-efficacy of physical education and sports teacher candidates and other teacher candidates there was remarkable no difference. In addition, a positive and moderate relationship was found between the level of critical thinking and the belief in academic self-efficacy. As students' critical thinking levels increased, their academic self-efficacy also increased.
