Evaluation of success motivations specific to the sports of the athletes with physical disablities

The purpose of this research is to determine and compare according to various demographic properties the success motivation levels of the individual and team athletes within the Turkish Sports Federation for the Physically Handicapped. The universe of our research consists of 2561 athletes, men and women, in total within 18 branches according to the data of the Sports General Directorate. The sampling of the research is formed of 425 athletes. As measurement tool, "Success Motivation Scale Specific to Sports" consisting of 3 sub dimensions and total of 40 questions is used. In the analysis of the data, the computer aided data analysis (SPSS 21) package program is used. The answer points for the statements formed by each sub dimension for motive to show strength, motive to achieve success and motive to evade failure are added and the variables are established by the total points for each sub dimension. To examine normality conformity in these variables, kolmogrov-smirnov test is applied and it is seen that none of the 3 examined variables comes from normal distribution. In light of this knowledge, in order to examine the differences in success motivation of the participants according to the socio-demographical properties Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis tests are applied. As a result, it can be said that the success motivation levels of the participants are high, SNSSS varies according to different demographic variables and motivation to evade failure drives the athletes more compared to other sub dimensions.
