Abstract (EN)

In the field of literature, Turkish has a wide and rich usage in terms of vocabulary. This rich usage has a special importance in literary works, especially in terms of preserving and maintaining the essence of Turkish language. Literary works that are frequently used in transferring Turkish vocabulary to future generations are story books. Behiç Ak is one of the authors who skilfully uses Turkish vocabulary in child literature. In this study, children's stories in the author's "Gülümseten Öyküler" series were selected as samples and ten (10) books in the series were reviewed. Descriptive analysis method was used in the examination of the books and the contents were visualized as tables and graphics in categories. Therefore, examining Behiç AK's use of Turkish vocabulary in story books and the frequency of using elements such as "proverb, idiom, nursery rhyme, riddle and dilemma" constitutes the purpose of the study. Thereby, in the light of the data obtained, the linguistic elements that constitute the vocabulary and the frequency of using these elements have been determined in these works of Behiç Ak. For this purpose, the author's use of Turkish vocabulary was examined in his works and an evaluation was reached about the author in this context. In this assessment, it was concluded that Behiç Ak frequently used the elements of vocabulary such as idioms and dilemmas, and less frequently used the elements of vocabulary such as nursery rhymes, riddles and proverbs in children's books. This study is expected to draw attention to the fact that Turkish is a language rich in vocabulary, and it is aimed to contribute to the literature in this direction.
