Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to determine the career needs of Syrian refugees in adulthood as a result of in-depth examinations. The career needs of refugees have been examined theoretically within the framework of social cognitive career theory. In the theoretical context, detailed studies have been made on career support and career barriers obtained from the views of refugees on the ability of creating career needs. While creating the sample, criterion sampling design which is one of the purposeful sampling methods was usedWithin this scope, 6 women, 6 men between the ages of 18-25 were interviewed who have immigrated to Turkey during the development of emerging adulthood. Participants consist of 12 people and 9 of them continue their university education and 3 of the them are self-employed. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research forms, was used in the research. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. The "Career Needs Interview Form of Syrian Refugees in the Emerging Adulthood Period" developed by the researcher was used as the data collection tool. Career needs stated by the participants; consists of legal, personal, professional, educational, guidance and cultural needs. Themes that predominantly constitute career needs for Syrian refugees are legal and personal needs. The needs which are determined for Syrian refugees between the ages of 18-25 to achieve their career goals are: citizenship need, work permit need, low wage, insurance need, legal rights / legal need, document / transcript / equivalence need, quota need in universities, financial barriers and supports, language proficiency, family support, need of accessing job opportunities, job search and CV preparation skills, need of adapting to the education system and expert support in terms of guidance / information. In addition, it has been determined that the career needs of Syrian refugees who continue their university education and work in self-employment have differed from each other.
