Abstract (EN)

Reinforced-concrete structures are widely used in our country and in the world due to its properties. Reinforced-concrete structures can generally only consist of frame systems as well as frame + reinforced-concrete shear walls. More damage occurs in reinforced-concrete structures compared to other structures due to earthquakes. One of the main causes of these damages is the negativity in the structure. The negativities in the building affect the earthquake performance of the building negatively and increase the degree of damage. Within the scope of this study, besides the selection of two different structural systems, namely frame and frame + reinforced-concrete shear walls, for a seven-story example reinforced-concrete structure, with negativity parameters which are common causes of structural damage in earthquake, were taken into consideration as short column, soft story, irregularity in plan and heavy overhang. Analyses were carried out and comparisons were made by selecting the variable for each negative parameter value for both different structural systems. The study was conducted to reveal the effects of negativity parameters on different structural systems. With this study, it once again reveals that reinforced-concrete shear walls can be a solution in order to reduce the effects of adverse situations in buildings.
