Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the vocabulary of Kyrgyz Turkish through Cengiz Aytmatov's novel The White Ship, one of the notable works of Kyrgyz language and literature. The research aims to identify and analyze a broad range of linguistic units within the novel, including nouns, verbs, idioms, reduplications, proverbs, relational words, blessings, curses, and multi-word expressions. By examining these units at both lexical and phrasal levels, the study seeks to demonstrate the linguistic richness, semantic depth, and cultural reflections embedded in Aytmatov's narrative. The study is structured into four main chapters. The first chapter provides an overview of the historical development of the Kyrgyz people, the structural characteristics of Kyrgyz Turkish, and the fundamental features of Kyrgyz literature, establishing the cultural and linguistic context for the analysis. The second chapter focuses on Cengiz Aytmatov's life and literary identity, and examines the themes, plot structure, symbolic elements, and narrative techniques of The White Ship. This section highlights how Aytmatov's personal experiences and sociocultural background shaped the artistic and linguistic dimensions of the novel. The third chapter presents a detailed analysis of the novel's vocabulary. Linguistic units are classified according to their semantic, morphological, and functional properties, and both monosemous and polysemous uses are examined. The fourth chapter includes a contextual dictionary that outlines the meanings, usage patterns, and narrative functions of the words and expressions found in the text. In conclusion, the study emphasizes the linguistic and cultural significance of Aytmatov's use of Kyrgyz Turkish. The findings reveal that the vocabulary of The White Ship provides valuable insights for linguistic, literary, and cultural studies, offering a deeper understanding of Aytmatov's stylistic and narrative techniques.
