Abstract (EN)
The nature of the design process which involves many phases, loops, iterations and the subjective decisions made by the designer gives rise to a variety of design methods. Even though design has a relationship with science and arts, design is seperated from them with its approach to problems it encounters and the solutions it offers. Therefore, the scope of investigations towards design may be enhanced through a multidisciplinary approach. Using methods that are common in the field of cognitive neuroscience to perform research on the design processes is a relatively new approach. Nevertheless, the research on this area presents that design processes can be developed by using these methods. According to this, the purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between design processes and cognitive neuroscience and how the methods of the latter affect the design processes. According to this purpose, design process and methodology, the scope and tools of cognitive neuroscience and the design studies using tools of cognitive neuroscience are examined. After analysing contents of the studies, it is seen that design methodology can be developed or new methods can be created by using neuroscientific tools to research design.
