Abstract (EN)

In the present study; firstly, biodiesel was produced by the transesterification method from refined corn oil. After the biodiesel production, the effects of the using neat biodiesel and different biodiesel/diesel fuel blends on combustion, engine performance, energy balance and exhaust emissions were experimentally investigated in a test diesel engine. Experiments were carried out for neat diesel fuel, neat biodiesel, and five different BDFBs such as (5, 10, 15, 20, 50; v/v) % under full load and at nine engine speeds. At the end of this study; it has been determined that using of biodiesel slightly reduces the torque, effective power, and effective efficiency, but it increases significantly the specific fuel consumption. It has been observed that using of biodiesel increases the biodiesel/diesel fuel blends by an average of 3-20%. However, it has been determined that using of biodiesel significantly reduces CO and soot emissions, and increases HC emissions and CO2. For example; at 2000 rpm, it has been determined an average of 36.33% and 37.04% reductions in CO and soot emissions, and an average of 3.7% increase in HC emissions. Combustion duration values generally increase up to (10-15)% biodiesel ratios, and after these ratios, they start to decrease. At the end of this study, it has been determined that 20% biodiesel/diesel fuel blend is the best mixing ratio for the test engine used at the experiments.
