Determining the location of a police station using fuzzy TOPSİS method: Adıyaman province example

In this study, it is aimed to determine the appropriate location of a new police station that will actively operate within the Adıyaman Provincial Police Department by using the fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solutions) method. This thesis consists of three parts, and in the first part, the concept of decision making and multi-criteria decision making is explained in detail. In the second part, fuzzy logic and fuzzy TOPSIS methods are explained. In the third part, an application study was carried out. The campuses built with the limited budget of the state to provide services to the citizens by considering the public interest should be built with a long-term planning strategy instead of saving the day. For this reason, in a campus to be built using the state's own resources, it is necessary to determine the location selection by taking all the criteria considered as important and unimportant into account and taking the necessary care.In order to determine the location of the new police station to be established within the body of Adıyaman Provincial Police Department, first of all, the decision criteria to be used in the evaluation were formed by reviewing the literature and taking the opinions of four decision makers who are managers who are knowledgeable in the field of security. The eight criteria determined were weighted in accordance with the opinions of experts, and the most appropriate of eight different locations selected for the police station planned to be built in Adıyaman city center was determined using the fuzzy TOPSIS method, one of the multi-criteria decision making techniques.
