Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, the protective effects of Naringenin (N) against Bisphenol A (BFA) induced oxidative stress in rats was investigated. There are four groups in the present study. These groups are Control group (K), BFA group (B), Naringenin group (N) and BFA+N (BN) group. BFA was administered as 25 mg/kg day and Naringenin as 50 mg/kg day. The MDA, GSH, AChE, GST, Ces, mineral and fatty acid levels were investigated in liver and brain tissues of rats. In liver tissue, Fe and Ca levels increased in B group compared to K group. In addition, MDA and Ces levels increased whereas GSH and GST levels decreased in B group group compared to K group. While the MDA and Ces levels of the BN group decreased compared to the B group, the GSH level of the BN group increased compared to the B group. In liver tissue, 16:0 fatty acid level of B group increased compared to K group while 18:1n9c and 18:2n6c fatty acid levels of B group decreased compared to K group. In brain tissue, MDA level of B group increased compared to group K while MDA level of BN group decreased compared to B group. While AChE and Ces enzyme activities in B group B decreased compared to K group, enzyme activity levels of GSH and GST in B group decreased relatively. GST enzyme activity level in BN group increased compared to B group. As a result, Naringenin has protective effects as an antioxidant against the oxidative stress induced by BFA.
