Özet (EN)

The topic covered in the thesis study is the preparation of the earthquake zoning map of Bitlis and its surroundings and the establishment of the relationship between experimental acceleration and decay. In the study, firstly the information about the history of earthquake zoning maps was given. Earthquake zoning maps used in the past to the present in Turkey are discussed. Bitlis and its vicinity have been examined in terms of earthquake zones and a new map of earthquake zones has been created for Bitlis and its vicinity by taking advantage of the data obtained from the previous earthquake records. As a basic data source; AFAD Presidency and Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute earthquake data, earthquake external focus distribution location and acceleration records are used. An earthquake external focus map was created by transforming the earthquake data set that has reached the size of the region into five and over. The accelerometer records of each of these earthquakes were examined and acceleration reduction calculations were made for each selected earthquake taking into consideration the ground conditions of the district centers in the study area. The earthquake zoning map of Bitlis and its vicinity has been prepared again by being used the most updated data in the framework of acceleration reduction relation. Thus, an updated earthquake zoning map for Bitlis and its environs was created against the damages that the earthquake could cause.
