Determination of heavy metal contents of some hyperakumulator plants around bitlis solid waste landfill

At present, it is very important to use hyperaccumulator plants to clean soils contaminated with heavy metals (phytoremediation method) and to identify plants with this characteristic. In this work, it is studied to detect the ability of accumulating heavy metal (hyperacumulator) of some plants in their bodies. For this purpose, specimens of the species of Hypericum scabrum, Achillea vermicularis, Anchusa azurea var. azurea, Malva sylvestris, Alkanna orientalis var. orientalis, Medicago sativa subsp. sativa which grow around the Solid Waste Integrated Disposal Facility located in Bellektepe, Tahtali Village, Güroymak District, Bitlis Province were collected in 2017. The root, stem, leaf and flower of these plants, and soil samples taken from the areas where these species are grown were studied on the basis of the contents of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and cadmium (Cd) were investigated. The heavy metal analyzes on these samples were made using ICP-MS. The heavy metal analyzes on these samples were made using ICP-MS. The mean concentrations of the elements Fe, Cu, Mg, Cr, Cd, Mn, Ni, Zn, Pb and Ca in soil samples were determined as 297.58, 3.17, 97.24, 1864.96, 3.80, 1.32, 9.84, 0.08, 2.46, 32.04 mg kg-1 respectively.
