Abstract (EN)

With the developing technology and increasing population, the need for energy is increasing day by day. The inadequacy of fossil fuels has directed societies to renewable energy sources. These energy sources are solar, wind, geothermal and biogas. our country has a rich potential for renewable energy resources and continuous efforts are being made in this field. In this study biogas, cogeneration systems and gas engines has been dwelled on. Biogas properties, usage areas, formation stages, evaluation, historical development, production and biogas plants were investigated. Cogeneration systems, which are the systems where both electricity and heat energy are produced together, and espacially cogeneration systems with gas engines are investigated. In general terms, how to make feasibility study, how to select the cogeneration unit and how to make the plant cost is explained. Finally, cogeneration system with a gas engine that produces 1 MW of electrical power using the biogas energy around Kırşehir province is designed with basic equipment together. In this design, it was observed that the cost was very high when only animal wastes were used, and the herbal wastes which were easily supplied within the Kırşehir province were mixed to reduce this cost. As a result, it has been clearly observed that waste type has a direct effect on plant design and depreciation period.
