Abstract (EN)
Human beings have made various changes in the concept of money, as in many other things, in order to make their life easier and adapt to the most up-to-date state of the changing world. Parallel to the development of technology, the tools used instead of money have changed. In recent years, cryptocurrencies built on blockchain technology have attracted the attention of many countries and financial institutions and their usage area has increased considerably. In this study, the infrastructure of blockchain technology, its usage areas in the financial sector and other social life, its advantages and disadvantages are emphasized. In addition, the predicted effects of cryptocurrencies on central banks and financial markets were examined. In the literature study, it has been determined that the blockchain technology is still very new and has the potential to make life easier in many areas.
