Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of public investments on regional development and public investments made in Agri province were examined by making a general evaluation of interregional development differences. The existence of economic development differences between developed regions and underdeveloped regions directly or indirectly damages the national economy. In this respect, one of the most important tools used to increase the economic vitality of the underdeveloped regions of the country is public expenditures. In addition, incentives provided by the state in order to attract private sector investments to the region are also important at this point. The province of Agri, which is located in the least developed region of our country, is one of the most underdeveloped provinces of Turkey in terms of socioeconomics. The fact that the city has many disadvantages causes its economic level to lag behind. It is seen that the economic problems in Agri cause many cultural and sociological problems. In this framework, the period between 1980 and 2022 of public investments in Agri province was examined and the effects of the expenditures on the socioeconomic development level of the city were emphasized.
