Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the effect of the new synthesis additive obtained by chemically synthesizing boron compound, which is the strategic raw material of our country's industry, and tall oil, which is a by-product of the paper industry, in the laboratory, on bitumen and bituminous mixtures was investigated. The structural analysis of the boron-containing tall oil additive (TOBO) obtained in the study was determined by FT-IR, SEM, TG, XRD and DSC methods. The physical properties of the modified binders obtained by adding TOBO material to the bituminous binder in four different weight ratios were determined by conventional experiments, and their rheological properties were determined by Superpave experiments, such as rotational viscometer (RV), rotational thin film aging (RTFOT), pressure aging vessel (PAV), dynamic shear rheometer (DSR). and determined by experiments such as bending beam rheometer (BBR). Additionally, Multiple Stress Creep-Recovery (MSCR) and Linear Amplitude Sweep (LAS) experiments were also applied to the modified binders. Mechanical properties of mixture samples produced with modified binders were demonstrated by Marshall Stability and Flow, Indirect Tensile Strength, Modified Lottman, Dynamic Creep and Indirect Tensile Fatigue tests. According to the test results, it was concluded that TOBO additive increases the consistency and rutting resistance of the binder at high temperatures, reduces cracking tendency at low temperatures, and the additive ratio that best affects the performance of the binder is 1.5%.
