Poetic dictionaries one of the didactic works of classical Turkish Literature are small in volume but rich in terms of their content. The main aim of these works is to teach words in a foreign language to children beginning education according to their capabilities. Also, these kinds of works are of importance in terms of including some grammar rules through poetry, information about prosody and aruz prosody. By this way, it is aimed to improve literature, culture, prosody, and vocabulary and poetry knowledge of students in infants' schools. Annotations for poetic dictionaries are detailed works created to correct some misreading and wrong information. Şahidi's work named Tuhfe-i Şahidi is the most annotated poetic dictionary in Turkish Literature. One of the annotations for poetic dictionary on it is Atfi's work named Şerh-i Tuhfe-i Şahidi. This study, was created under four main titles. Information about the tradition of writing poetic dictionary in classical Turkish Literature, classical annotation, the method of poetic annotation and annotations for poetic dictionaries is given in the introduction. The life of Atfi, his literary personality and his works are introduced in the first part. The name of the work, the date and the reason it was written. The method of annotation and the content properties are examined in the second part. The introduction of the copy editions and the way through which the critical text was written is given in the third part. The way Tuhfe-i Şahidi was commented by Atfi, the approach of a commentator living in that century for words and concepts in couplets and explanatory information on the art, culture, history and literature in the 18th century will be got at the end of the study.
