Sport services of metropolitan municipalities: The case of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality

Sport is a considerably important activity in terms of having a healthy physical and mental structure of every group of the society especially the young people. Therefore, sports services are regarded as one of the important service areas of public administrations. Importance and necessity of local administrations are obvious in development and dissemination of sports. Metropolitan municipalities contribute to sportive activities of the public residing in metropolitan areas and amateur sport clubs in proportion with their capacities. In the present study; importance of sports in social life and sport-related duties and responsibilities of public administration organizations and especially local administrations in Turkey are determined. Furthermore, satisfaction levels relating to sport services of citizens living within the borders of Antalya Metropolitan and their expectations for sports services are also determined by examining sports services of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. Accordingly, it is concluded that the local community is generally glad at sports services of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality.
