Abstract (EN)

Our study named ?The Freedom of Religion and Conscience in the Interpretation of the Contemporary Period: The Case of Mevdudi and Süleyman Ateş?, primarily aims to analysis the concept of ?the freedom of religion and conscience? according to Quran, and then to research the approaches of two great interpreters of our time to the subject. Our study consists of an introduction and two chapters. In the Introduction Part, it is focused on the importance of the commentaries of Mevdudi and Süleyman Ateş and their places, among the contemporary commentaries. In The First Chapter, human freedom and will is interested in the perspective of Kelam and the freedom of religion and conscience and is studied as a concept. In The Second Chapter, the freedom of religion and conscience is discussed according to Quran, and then in this context, the freedom of belief, worship, religious education and interpretation of the verses is studied comparatively according to Mevdudi and Süleyman Ateş.
