Expressive approaches in contemporary ceramic art and figurative expressionism

Ceramics, which is the oldest product of human history, has developed over the centuries and has become a powerful means of expression with a universal language. In the historical process, it has affected the lifestyles and cultures of societies and has been shaped by being influenced by cultural phenomena. Therefore, ceramic material has found a special place in the art production of every age. What art is or not has been discussed since Antiquity. These discussions, which started with Plato and intensified today, also gave birth to the theoretical discourses of art. In this study, figurative expressionism in contemporary ceramic art is examined within the framework of "Expressionist (Narrative) Art Theory". The expressive quality of the work of art gains importance in the "Expressionist Art Theory", which deals with the subjective appearances of the work of art. According to this theory, a work of art is a reflection of the artist's feelings. According to Croce, who sees art as a cognitive, creative and spiritual acquisition, the artist is the person who expresses and expresses the contents. In this study, which focuses on figurative themed works within the framework of expressive approaches, the place of figurative expressive attitude in Contemporary Ceramic Art has been examined through the works of art determined by purposeful sampling method. In the last part of the research, the personal creation process was mentioned, and the theoretical foundations of my works that I produced in relation to the subject were texted.
