A study on the impact of psychological contract violations perceived by employees on counterproductive work behaviors

Abstract (EN)

In the study, firstly, a detailed description of the concept of psychological contract violation, which has started to draw attention with the changing working conditions in recent years and the counterproductive work behaviors that have been named by various names in time has been given. Then, the effect of psychological contract violations perceived by employees on counterproductive work behaviors and sub-dimensions was examined. In addition, it has been investigated whether psychological contract violation and counterproductive work behaviors differed according to demographic characteristics. Correlation and variance analyses were used to examine these effects and differences. The sample of the study consisted of 381 employees who are actively working in textile sector in Gaziantep. The employees were asked to complete a 35 item questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS (22 v.) and AMOS (23 v.) statistical programs by constructing structural equation modeling. According to the results of the study, it has been concluded that the perception of psychological contract breach significantly and positively affected employees tendency to engage in interpersonel counterproductive work behaviors and counterproductive work behaviors toward the organization.
