Abstract (EN)
Tensile strength of cement-based materials such as concrete is low. To eliminate this negative effect, synthetic or natural fibers are added to the concrete. By adding the fibers to the concrete, the uncontrolled progression of cracks in the cement matrix is generally prevented. In the thesis study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of glass fiber usage on the mechanical properties of concrete and corrosion performance of reinforcement in concrete. In the study, concrete samples were produced by making a control mixture and % 1, 2, 3 glass fiber added mixture. In addition, reinforced concrete samples were produced to determine the durability properties of concrete. Concrete samples that will be subjected to mechanical, physical and durability tests were cured in a standard curing environment (water curing). Physical test was performed on concrete samples as unit weight, ultrasound transition speed mechanically tests, surface hardness, compressive strenght, splitting tensile strenght, flexural tensile strenght, and electrical resistance test was performed for durability. Accelerated corrosion and half cell potential experiments were carried out on reinforced concrete samples. The changes occurring under the influence of corrosion of the control and glass fiber reinforced concrete series produced in the study and the changes in their mechanical and physical properties were examined. With the use of glass fibers in the concrete mix, there was an increase in splitting tensile strenght and flexural tensile strenght compared to reference concrete. İn addition, the use of glass fiber in the concrete mixture to slightly increase the resistance of corrosion.
