The effect of Education and Information Network on the academic success of students in teaching of living-energy relations unit

In this study, it is aimed to examine the effect of using the Education Information Network (EBA) on the academic achievement of the students in the teaching of the Living-Energy Relations unit and to examine the students' opinions about EBA. In order to achieve the aims stated in the study, a mixed method, both quantitative and qualitative, was used. For the quantitive data, a semi-experimental design and for the qualitative data, interview technics were used. The sample of the study consists of 81 eighth grade students attending a secondary school in Adıyaman. As data collection tools, academic achievement test was developed and interview form was used. The obtained data was analyzed by using statistical program. According to the quantitative findings of the study, there was a significant difference between the academic success of the last test of the experimental students group with whom EBA supported constructivist teaching approach was used and the control students group with whom only the constructivist approach was used in the teaching of the Living and Energy Relations unit. It was concluded that this difference was in favor of the experimental group. As a result of these findings, it was seen that the use of EBA was effective on the achievement test of students' living and energy relations. In order to obtain the qualitative data of the study, 10 students from the experimental group were interviewed. According to the findings obtained from qualitative data, it was seen that the students have positive opinions about EBA. It was concluded that the students participated actively in the course when EBA was used and they found it enjoyable. They also preferred to use EBA in order to repeat the subject out-of-class.
