Abstract (EN)
Mankind has discussed war rather than peace. While the works written on war date back to before common era, the works on peace don't have a long history. Even if dates of the conflicts that took place within the historical process have been recorded, and their causes and effects have been investigated, no one has ever got to the root of the conflicts. A group of scientists who realized this deficiency, dealt with conflict resolution as a branch of science at the beginning of 20th century. In a short time, centers intended for researching conflicts have been established in many places of the world. Many new concepts are brought into the literature in relation to that. Although Lebanon fallen under domination of many countries throughout history, it managed to preserve its distinctive structure. What makes Lebanon valuable most is its being a place that can be relatable to every religion, sect, and country because of its resemblance to a cultural mosaic. In addition, Lebanon has been seen as "Middle East's window to the West" for its location and Christian population; its capital, Beirut, has been seen as "Paris of the Middle East" for its modernity and level of development for many years. However, Lebanon's distinctive sectarian-based political structure caused power struggle among the parties and never-ending internal conflicts. Besides, the fact that it opened its doors to Palestinian and Syrian immigrants, and emigration of the Christian population during the civil war period changed its demographical structure significantly. In this study, both conflict resolution and historical process of Lebanon are discussed, and also Lebanon conflict is studied by using conflict wheel which is one of the important tools of conflict resolution.
