Abstract (EN)
This study primarily seeks to evaluate the potentiality of animal biomass energy in Denizli and propose relevant recommendations for the strategic site selection of a biomass energy facility. Utilizing the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), decision matrices were developed for facility site selection criteria. Fuzzy Logic modules were then applied to establish suitable ranges. Besides, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were employed to assess the animal biomass potential in Denizli, known for its abundance of animal biomass. Spatial data were processed to generate suitability maps, and eventually comprehensive analyses were conducted. The results indicate Denizli's considerable biogas potential, with 45387200 m³/year from cattle, 5271600 m³/year from small ruminants, and 14317600 m³/year from poultry. This translates to 143095755 kWh, 16620183 kWh, and 45140211 kWh of thermal energy, respectively. Additionally, GIS-based field suitability maps classified areas as very suitable, suitable, moderately suitable, and less suitable. This study underscores the significance of animal biomass energy within the realm of sustainable and renewable energy solutions. The findings serve as a foundation for site selection and capacity planning of animal biomass energy facilities. The GIS mapping outcomes are instrumental for identifying optimal areas for facility placement and integrating regional energy infrastructure. Efficient exploitation of animal biomass resources not only enhances environmental sustainability but also contributes to achieving renewable energy targets, thus reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels. This research is instrumental for local governments and policymakers in making strategic decisions for energy resource diversification and enhanced energy security. It further sheds light on the environmental and socio-economic benefits of animal biomass energy, accompanied by potential challenges, providing guidance for increased biomass energy use.
