Özet (EN)
In this study, implucature analysis was made on various excerpts from Cengiz Aytmatov's novel "Elveda Gulsari" and it was examined whether Grice's principles of co-operation were violated. The novel has a rich narrative that describes social and individual transformations, nature and human relations, ideological conflicts and the difficulties experienced by individuals in Soviet-era Kyrgyzstan. For each excerpt, the deeper meanings and subtexts of the text were revealed through inferential analysis. Inference refers to the implicit meanings beyond the surface meaning of a text, which the reader can infer through context and cultural knowledge. Within the framework of Grice's co-operation principles, it was determined which principle was violated in each quotation. In cases where the Quality Principle was violated, the emotional and internal conflicts experienced by Tanabay and other characters were not directly expressed, which required the reader to infer meaning through intuition. For example, Tanabay's internal conflicts and ideological commitments were not clearly expressed and the reader was expected to find these meanings through inference. Violations of the principle of quantity prolong the characters' thoughts with unnecessary details in some parts of the text. The excessive details in Tanabay's farewell to Gulsarı or in the letter he intends to write to his son slow down the pace of the text and make it difficult to focus the narrative. In cases where the principle of form was violated, the narrator's use of indirect and imaginative language violated the principle of narrative clarity and regularity, which requires the reader to think and interpret the text in depth. Gulsari's reactions to the changes in her environment and her confrontation with natural dangers are expressed through imaginative narratives rather than direct narratives. The main themes that emerge from the analysis of the texts are social hierarchy and exclusion, the relationship between nature and man, change and harmony, ideological commitment and internal conflict. While Gulsari's exclusion and her struggle to be accepted into the herd symbolise the themes of social hierarchy and exclusion, the cruelty of nature and the struggle of human beings against this nature throughout the novel describe the helplessness of human beings against nature and their struggle for survival. The theme of change and adaptation reflects the processes of Gulsari and other characters in adapting to environmental changes, the adaptability of individuals in the face of change and the difficulties experienced in this process. The theme of ideological commitment and internal conflict reveals Tanabay's commitment to Soviet ideals, the sacrifices he makes for the sake of these ideals, and ideological conflicts at the individual and social levels. In conclusion, this study analyses the deep meanings and insights in Cengiz Aytmatov's novel "Elveda Gulsari" within the framework of Grice's principles of cooperation. The novel deals not only with individual stories, but also with social and ideological transformations. These analyses based on intuitions and violated principles reveal the deep structure of the text and the richness of Aytmatov's narrative. This thesis makes a significant contribution to the understanding of the multi-layered structure of the novel and the intuitions within this structure.
