According to the Ceride-i Askeriyye, the activities of Russia and England in Asia (29th April- 1st August 1878)

Ceride-i Askeriyye gazette is a military newspaper published in Ottoman Empire continuously between January 16th 1864 and November 4th 1922. A wide range of information about the land and naval forces of the Ottoman Empire was given in this newspaper. While it was published weekly on Saturdays at first, the newspaper starting publishing twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays at the Mekteb-i Harbiye Printing House after a while. In addition to the technological developments of foreign armies, the newspaper also often included translations of foreign news. The primary source of this study is the Ceride-i Askeriyye gazette. This master thesis examines the publications of the newspaper between the dates of April 29th 1878 and August 1th 1878 for information on the military and political activities of the Russian and British states in Asia. The transformation process of Russia from a Duchy to an Empire and its influence on the Turkestan Khanates are discussed. The study also provides information about the geography of India, a glance at the states that were established before the European discovery of India, and information about the Indian and British military organization under the leadership of the Great Britain.
